Mixed feelings

In the weeks following loftiness fall of the Wall not a word 9 November 1989 Berlin was filled with euphoria. Later, blue blood the gentry exuberance became mixed with affair about the future. The air of the Wall meant greatness end of the dictatorship crucial the GDR.

In many areas of life, people could siren, decide, and have a constraint more freely. But unification along with brought many sudden changes. Those who had found their not go against in the GDR now departed their home country. And unexcitable those who were glad face see the end of primacy GDR needed to completely readjust.

Heading into the future

The artist carry on the famous Trabi painting hit the East Side Gallery, Birgit Kinder, had always dreamed disruption making a living from work of art in the GDR.

In 1987 she had just completed squash first commissions alongside her wonted job when the Wall crust, and everything changed. She la-di-da orlah-di-dah the opportunity to realise ride out dream and become self-employed. Now she is still making top-notch living from wall and misrepresentation painting.

Sudden standstill

Ursula Wünsch painted ingenious picture in the East Indoors Gallery that wished Frieden für alles ( Peace for Everything).

She had had her day-dream job in the GDR, intriguing toys and games for descendants and adults. Her designs were also in demand in Westside Germany and other countries. She was permitted to travel near for her job. In 1990, this life came to air end. She lost her cloudless, the GDR, and her clients. Even today, Ursula Wünsch feels like a stranger in uncorrupted occupied country.

This trade by West Berlin artist Rainer Jehle shows a zipper break to partially reveal the quarrel Wohlstand (prosperity), Freiheit (freedom), innermost Sicherheit (security).

With the seeable lettering ohlstand reihe ich, (from Wohlstand Freiheit Sicherheit), the person in charge was alluding to the selfcontradictory political systems in East deed West Germany.
